Originally intended as a 2009 release on Mercury/Universal, Firestation Records and Destination Pop feel very honoured to present “Love, And Other Catastrophes” on vinyl with three bonus tracks. Skint & Demoralised are from Wakefield, England and sound like The Streets meets Haircut 100 and Orange Juice, but you might also think of Spearmint or a more cheerful version of The Dead 60s.

The 15 tracks on this limited vinyl edition (only 500 copies being made) were recorded in London, Sheffield and New York. Some of them feature the legendary Dap-Kings, the band responsible for the trademark sound on Amy Winehouse’s album “Back To Black”.

Erleen Nada is probably not the kind of artist you would immediately associate with San Diego, California. Visually, she could have been the third girl in the B-52′s of the early 80s, but her main musical inspiration obviously comes from European artists such as Danielle Dax, Gina X Performance and Strawberry Switchblade.

The title track of Erleen Nada’s first vinyl single „Peachy Keen“ may be regarded as spoken word combined with classic synth pop, seductively strange and catchy at the same time. „Cowbell Song“ as the B-side, however, is darker and proves to be a striking contrast to the lead track.

Billy MacKenzie was the legendary singer of The Associates. Even though he could have sung almost everything with his multi-octave voice, MacKenzie never neglected his love for electronic popmusic. He truly was an artists’ artist and even became the subject of songs by The Creatures, The Cure, Luke Haines, Rockettothesky and The Smiths.

This original version of “Return To Love” is an unreleased demo from 1995, recorded by MacKenzie with Steve Aungle, his main musical partner in the 90s. The B-side, “The Soul That Sighs”, has already seen the light of day on Eurocentric, an album released in 2001.

Action Biker is the one-woman band of Swedish singer Sarah Nyberg Pergament and started in 2002 while she was still in her teens. Over the years she has also worked with the likes of The Field, Mr. Wright and The Sound Of Arrows. With the arrival of kindred spirits like Au Revoir Simone however, the timing for her very own wonderful vision of melancholic electropop now finally seems right.

“Hesperian Puisto” is the title track of Action Biker’s album issued in 2008 by Friendly Noise, while the B-side “Tears With You Tears Without” has just been completed to make this 7“ single a true 2010 release.
